Description: Munitions contain energetic materials that perform specific functions including propulsion, blast, initiation, and generating visual and audible signals. These materials are highly reactive by their nature, which has made it difficult to manufacture, transport, store, use, and dispose of them. This session addressed the challenging issues of how to balance the inherent danger of these materials with the need to give our warfighters safe munitions that are cleanly producible and not harmful to the environment.
